What are the requirements for admissions?

Are international students required to take standardized tests such as SAT, ACT?

No, however we have an English Proficiency requirement.

 

How do I fulfill the English proficiency?

How do I apply for scholarship?

HPU offers merit scholarships to international students. There is no separate application required!  We use the information that you provide within your application to award these scholarships.

Can I transfer credits from my previous school?
HPU Students who have taken IB and AP courses may qualify for college credit at Hawai'i Pacific University. Learn more here for IB and here for AP.

We consider transfer credits from high school from some European countries. Learn more here.

If you are currently attending another university, and would like to transfer to HPU, we consider you a transfer student is you have completed 24 or more credits. Learn more about transferring to HPU here.

 

How can I apply for housing?

We offer on-campus housing, and a separate application is required. Learn more about housing here.  

When should I arrive?
It is recommended that you arrive at least 1 week before class starts to attend the mandatory orientation and get settled. Learn more about orientation and information on travelling to HPU here.

Can international students work on campus?  Is volunteering permitted on a student visa?

International students can work part-time (19 hours per week) in an on-campus jobs, but we recommend you read more here about the regulations. Volunteering is permitted, as long as it is unpaid, without monetary compensation.
