On-Campus

F-1 and J-1 students are eligible to work on-campus while attending classes. The work does not need to be related to your field of study. You must maintain legal F-1 or J-1 status while engaging in on-campus employment.  On-campus employment is limited to 20 hours a week during fall and spring semesters and 40 hours a week during University vacations and summer vacation. No special work permission is needed to begin working. In order for F-1 or J-1 students to work and get paid, they must obtain a Social Security Number (SSN) including on-campus employment. Once a student graduates, s/he is no longer authorized for on-campus employment.  If a student is offered a job on campus after graduation, he or she can only work based on practical training work authorization.

**J-1 STUDENTS MUST HAVE AUTHORIZATION ON THEIR DS-2019 FOR ON-CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT**
