This summer, Melissa Azzalina and the Client Support Services team partnered with Brandon Childress from the Registrar's Office, Dingilizwe (Clarence) Ncube from Facilities, and the Maintenance team to improve the “in-classroom experience” for students.
Faculty and students will notice the following changes in the classrooms at Pioneer Plaza (PL), Waterfront Plaza (WP), and Aloha Tower Marketplace (ATM):
- Classrooms have been evaluated for capacity to alleviate overcrowding.
- Classroom furniture was refreshed through the removal of older “flip desks” and the repurposing of existing furniture to better support student use.
- The first set of 30 new student workstations has been ordered (Note: Due to a delay in shipping, placement has been delayed.)
Additionally, all lighting issues have been remediated, and carpets were thoroughly cleaned from wall to wall. The flooring was stripped and waxed.
In keeping pace with technology, the Client Services team also refurbished the PL 11 Mac Lab at Pioneer Plaza during summer 2026. The lab consists of 25 machines dedicated for student use and one machine for the instructor and relies upon the latest Adobe Software, Unity Unreal, and Pro Tools.
The central projector has been removed to make way for two dual 65-inch monitors to provide a more cohesive environment. (see pic)

NEW! Canon Multifunction copiers
In case you haven’t noticed, all departmental Toshiba printers have now been replaced with new Canon multifunction copiers.
Hawai‘i Pacific University’s Information Technology Services (ITS) has partnered with Maunakea Integrated Solutions as the new vendor to support HPU’s printing environment.
The new Canon machines provide the same core printing, copying, and scanning functionality as the previous Toshiba devices while offering improved performance with faster and quieter operation.
As part of the deployment, existing address books and scan-to-email configurations were transferred to the new Canon machines. Printing to these devices is available through the PaperCut Print Deploy Client installed on your HPU computer.

Training on the New Canon Copiers
Maunakea Integrated Solutions will be coordinating with department administrators to provide training on the new machines. If you would like to participate in a training session, please contact your respective department administrator for scheduling information.

Waterfront Plaza Psychology Lab
A new miniature lab has been designated for use at WP1-512. The lab is a return to dedicated use of JASP (an alternative to SPSS software) for the Psychology department.
Access to both labs is dependent upon enrollment in the appropriate course(s).
