ground transportation

Student travel on Oahu varies by location and personal preference.

Intercampus Shuttle Service: The University provides a shuttle service between its two major campuses, downtown campus and Hawaii Loa campus.

TheBus: Public transportation on TheBus is a popular option. All full-time registered students (excluding military campus students) receive a semester UPASS with their Transportation Fee. For more information about TheBus call (808) 848-5555 or visit

CARSHARE PROGRAMS: HPU has a carshare partnership with Hui. Click on this link for more information about rates and membership.

Campus Parking

Parking options on Oahu are few and can be costly.

Downtown Campus: Hawai'i Pacific University does not provide an institutionally-owned parking garage or parking lot in downtown Honolulu for the exclusive use of its students or visitors. However, parking validation may be available for specific university events (i.e. New Student Orientation, campus visits cooridinated through the Office of Admission, etc.) at Aloha Tower Marketplace.

Parking, for a charge, is available in private and municipal parking garages and parking lots (including Aloha Tower Marketplace). Metered on-street parking is available on certain streets during the day, in off-hours, and on weekends. All parking is within close walking distance to the downtown campus.

Downtown parking resources are available by clicking on this link. Rates change, so contact the company directly for current parking fees.

Hawaii Loa Campus: Purchase a daily pass or a semester parking decal.

Hawaiian Airlines Affiliate Program

Staff, faculty, students, and family and friends of Hawai'i Pacific University are now able to utilize the Hawaiian Airlines Affiliate Program, and experience a 5% discount.
