Graduate Scholarships

As the largest private university in Hawai‘i we believe it is our responsibility to find ways to give back to the community around us. At HPU one of our core values is Kuleana, and with this scholarship we hope to provide Hawai’i's working professionals the support they need to pursue their graduate education right here in Hawai’i, blending both quality academics and flexible programs that fit into your schedule. 

Alumni Scholarship

Any HPU alumnus who intends to register full-time in a new graduate program qualifies. Student must be in a degree-seeking program, and starting a new graduate program in Fall 2019 or Spring 2020. Scholarship is valid for up to four semesters (fall and spring), and may not be applied to summer terms. Scholarship is valued at $2,000 per semester for AY 2019-20, cannot be combined with a graduate assistantship or other institutional scholarship/award, and is applicable only to tuition.

• Fall Entry – August 15
• Spring Entry – December 15


Graduate JumpStart Scholarship

A graduate student who intends to register for only six credits per semester (part-time) may apply. Student must be in a degree-seeking program. Scholarship is valid for two semesters (fall and spring), and may not be applied to summer terms. A new application must be completed for each academic year. Scholarship is valued at $1,260 per semester for AY 2019-20.

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate Assistantships (GA) fund a portion of tuition for up to four semesters, not including summer terms. The Assistantship requires that the awardee must be a a full-time graduate student (enrolled in a minimum of 9-credits each semester) and participate in 10 to 19 hours a week (depending on the award) in research, academic, or administrative experiences during the semester, outside the degree requirements. Graduate Assistants will work with faculty and scholars in their field and be assigned activities by the program director, which will add value to development as a student. The Assistantship is renewable for up to four semesters, contingent on remaining in good academic standing. Assistantships are available to domestic and international students. The Graduate Assistantship covers tuition only; fees, books, and living expenses are the responsibility of the student. Priority is given to newly enrolled students.
