Graduate Scholarships

As the largest private university in Hawai‘i we believe it is our responsibility to find ways to give back to the community around us. At Hawai‘i Pacific University (HPU) one of our core values is Kuleana, and with this scholarship we hope to provide Hawai’i's working professionals the support they need to pursue their graduate education right here in Hawai’i, blending both quality academics and flexible programs that fit into your schedule. 

Merit Scholarship

Eligibility:

Hawai‘i Pacific University (HPU) offers a limited number of merit scholarships to new incoming graduate students through the admissions process each academic year. Graduate students should indicate their interest on the HPU graduate application. The merit scholarship is renewable for up to four consecutive semesters (based on program length), contingent on remaining in good academic standing as a full-time student. Awarded amount varies by degree program and applies to tuition only; fees, books, and living expenses are the responsibility of the student. New incoming graduate students are automatically considered for merit scholarship upon admission decision. No separate application is required. Scholarship is not stackable with other HPU scholarships. Students receiving other significant funding are not eligible to receive the award. Students enrolled in online Nursing or Physical Therapy programs are not eligible.

Graduate Assistantships

Eligibility:
Hawai‘i Pacific University (HPU) offers a limited number of graduate assistantships to new incoming graduate students through the admissions process each academic year. Graduate students should indicate their interest on the HPU graduate application. The assistantship requires that the awardee maintains full-time status (9+credits) each semester and participates in 9 to 18 hours a week (depending on the award) in research, academic, or administrative experiences during the semester, outside the degree requirements. Graduate assistants may work with faculty, staff and scholars in their field which will add value to development as a student. Assistantships may also be available within various university departments and require application through Handshake. Assistantships are renewable for up to four consecutive semesters (based on program length), contingent on remaining in good academic standing as a full-time student. The graduate assistantship covers tuition only; fees, books, and living expenses are the responsibility of the student. Award is not stackable with other HPU scholarships. Students receiving other significant funding are not eligible to receive the award. Students enrolled in online Nursing or Physical Therapy programs are not eligible.

Alumni Scholarship

Eligibility:
Any Hawai‘i Pacific University (HPU) alumnus registered for at least nine credits per semester (full-time) in a new graduate program qualifies. Student must be in a degree-seeking program starting in the 2023-24 academic year. Scholarship is valid for up to four consecutive semesters (based on program length), applies to HPU tuition and mandatory fees only, with a maximum value of $2,000 per semester. Award is not stackable with other HPU scholarships. Students receiving other significant funding are not eligible to receive the award. Students enrolled in online Nursing, Occupational or Physical Therapy programs are not eligible.

Hawai'i Pacific University and the College of Professional Studies (CPS) support the military community by offering top tier programs while providing financial and student assistance. Financial awards will be available to service members as well as military family members, military retirees, Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, and civilian contractors working on the military bases for MCP-approved undergraduate and graduate programs.  For more information, click here.

Notification: Award Adjustments to HPU Institutional Aid

HPU reserves the right to reduce, cancel or substitute any institutional scholarship/grant at any time. Tuition support from all sources cannot exceed the actual cost of tuition. If a student received tuition benefits/payments made directly to the institution, such as employer tuition, 529 tuition payments, VA tuition benefits, or external scholarships stating for tuition, that equal or exceed 90% of a student’s total tuition, all HPU institutional scholarships and grants, applicable to tuition only, including tuition waivers, will be canceled. If the tuition benefits/payments are less than 90% of a student’s total tuition, HPU institutional scholarships and grants, including tuition waivers, may be reduced or canceled
