Military Campus Program

Military Campus Program

  • Social workers seek to understand how individuals, groups, and communities are affected by social problems such as poverty, mental and physical illness, family difficulties, and social injustice.
  • Social workers are employed in a variety of settings: hospitals, schools, mental health facilities, family programs, the VA, and agencies that address the needs of children, adults, and elders. With the versatility of social work degrees, graduates are also employed in fields of criminal justice, policy and politics, research and evaluation, business, or as entrepreneurs.
  • Social workers use their skills to empower others to help themselves and work toward changing unresponsive social systems.
  • For over 20 years, the HPU School of Social Work has been training students to develop the necessary knowledge, values and skills to "make the world a better place."

  • These programs are designed with the needs of military and their families in mind.
  • Our social work faculty are second to none. Students will learn from a group of faculty who, between them, have extensive social work experience, and have either carried out research on working with military/veteran populations, and/or who are currently active-duty social workers.
  • The learning environment at HPU is truly multi-cultural, with students from all 50 states and more than 70 countries.
  • We offer a variety of internship placements, many with military and veteran populations.

  • The Military Campus Program is an extension of HPU's degree programs that allows ONLY active-duty military and their spouses to obtain their degrees on base. The BSW and MSW degrees will be taught at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam
  • The BSW degree can be completed in 17 months and the MSW degree can be completed in 29 months to accommodate the frequent moves military often face.
  • Each term typically has one online course and one course in the on-base classroom, because flexibility is important
  • The Military Campus Program admits students for both Fall and Spring semesters.
