Applications for the fall 2023 Semester opened on march 1!
1. Submit Your Intent to Enroll Form and $200 Enrollment Deposit (if newly enrolled)
2. Submit Your Housing Application and $400 Housing Deposit*
3. Return Your Signed On-Campus Housing Agreement & Acceptance Form**
4. Receive Your Housing and Roommate Assignment in December
*On-campus housing inventory is limited. If your housing application is received, and no housing is available, you will be informed within three business days that you have been placed on a waitlist.
**After submission of your housing application, a housing and meal plan agreement form will be sent to your HPU email account. Until this agreement form is submitted, your housing is not confirmed. Due to limited housing inventory, you are encouraged to sign and submit your housing agreement form upon receipt.
HOW TO APPLY
Step 1 - Go to the Housing Portal and log in with your MyHPU credentials.
Step 2 - Click on the Housing Application link in the top menu.
Step 3 - Follow the steps to complete your application. MAKE SURE YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION IN THE FINAL REVIEW STEP.

- When we will find out about roommate assignments?
The Housing and Residence Life team will communicate via email on August 11 all roommate assignments to students who have an accepted housing agreement. - When will my housing location be confirmed?
The Housing and Residence Life team will communicate via email on August 11 all room/unit assignments to students who have an accepted housing agreement. - When is the last day that I can opt out of housing and still get my housing deposit back?
May 1 was the last day to cancel an accepted housing agreement and receive their $400 deposit. Students who apply but are put on a waitlist or receive a housing offer but do not accept will be refunded their housing deposit. Students who have a signed housing agreement should reference the housing termination fee section of their housing agreement for more details. - When does the roommate matching form go live?
The roommate matching process is from June 1 to July 31; students will request roommates through the HPU Housing Portal (log in with your MyHPU credentials).
- How can I request a roommate?
You can request a roommate by name, modify your roommate questionnaire responses, and communicate with other students who accepted university housing. Keep in mind that request are not guaranteed. Students must accept the roommate request and be in the same room type. - Where should certain majors live?
University housing locations is based on preference as housing is not assigned by major. For Residential Honors students, their designated housing is on the 3rd floor of Waterfront Lofts at Aloha Tower Marketplace. For Marine Science Scholars, their designated housing is at the Hawaii Loa Campus.
- When will I know my address? When can I start shipping items?
Residents will know their unit number on August 11 when room and roommate assignments are emailed. How to label mail and packages will be provided on August 11. Residents may start shipping items to their address starting August 11. - What comes with each room?
Each bedroom'S furniture will vary based on the residential community. Overall, students will receive a XL twin size bed; closet or wardrobe; desk and desk chair. - When is the last day to change my meal plan?
Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Contact housing@hpu.edu to request a change. - When is move-in day?
Move-in day is Wednesday, August 23 from 8am to 12pm. More information will be provided in your room and roommate assignment email. Make sure to join the specific residence life sessions during ‘Ohana Check-In throughout the summer. - May I still apply for university housing?
Yes. We process applications as they come and if a housing location is at full capacity we place students on a waiting list. If you have an incomplete application, you can still submit an application. Go to the HPU Housing Portal (log in with your MyHPU credentials) to complete your application.
- If I got offered a room type that were not my top 3 preference, how do I change it?
You can be added to a waiting list for a specific room type of your choice after you accept the housing offer and sign the housing agreement that was sent to you via email. After you accept your housing offer, please email housing@hpu.edu so you can be waitlisted for your 1st room type preference along with your student ID number.
- Can you help me find off campus housing?

All new, full-time undergraduate students are charged a one-time new student orientation fee of $200. This amount is charged to students' accounts in July for fall and December for spring. New first-year, transfer and visiting/exchange students are required to attend new student orientation. Students will receive a lanyard, name badge, lei, and new student t-shirt during orientation. This fee also includes some meals, transportation, and participation in various required and optional activities throughout the event.
AFFORDABLE AND CONVENIENT ACCESS TO REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS AND COURSE MATERIALS for students is why HPU and Barnes & Noble launched the Shark Bundle rental program. Students will pay $25.75 per credit hour* to get all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and electronic book versions before the first day of Fall 2022 semester classes. The average student is estimated to save as much as $300 on textbooks for a semester
