Reference

The HPU Libraries’ Reference Department is committed to serving HPU students, faculty, and staff through the design and delivery of high quality reference and instruction services. We advance the mission of the University to prepare students to “live, work, and learn as active members of a global society”1 by supporting the information literacy skills of the HPU community. We help the HPU community refine their skills in locating, evaluating, and using information sources effectively and conscientiously.

In our curriculum development, we are guided by standards set forth by the Association of College & Research Libraries, such as the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. The Reference Department plays an essential role in helping HPU students at all levels to achieve our Institutional Learning Outcomes. We collaborate with faculty to build course-specific, hands-on learning experiences. Our pedagogical model emphasizes inclusion, and empowers students to think both critically and creatively.
