A Faculty Legacy: Investing in Students for Generations

For nearly three decades, Professor of History Jon Davidann has guided HPU students to see the world through the lens of the past in order to thrive in a rapidly changing future. His dedication to teaching and mentorship has shaped countless alumni.
While repainting his home in Kailua, Jon began reflecting on how best to plan for the future of his family and the university he has called home for so many years. Instead of selling the house, he and his wife, Beth, decided to make a generous gift of their home through HPU’s partnership with the National Gift Annuity Foundation. The process, Jon shared, was “easy—and even fun.”
Their gift will one day create scholarships for students in History and Public Health, honoring Jon’s career as a historian and Beth’s service as a public health professional. Even before their gift is realized, their commitment is a powerful example of how thoughtful planning can both care for loved ones today and ensure that generations of Sharks continue to thrive.
