Hanh Nguyen, Ph.D., Professor of Applied Linguistics in the TESOL Program, Department of English and Applied Linguistics, College of Liberal Arts, recently published a book chapter and delivered a plenary speech at an international conference.

Nguyen is the first author of the chapter, "Conversation Analysis and Longitudinal Studies," co-authored with Taiane Malabarba, in the Routledge Handbook of Conversation Analysis, published in May 2026. The chapter distills Nguyen's and Malabarba's expertise and experience in a growing area of research in applied linguistics.

Recently, Nguyen gave a plenary presentation at the 2nd International Symposium on Conversation Analysis for Research and Development Innovations in Thailand and Beyond on July 16, 2026. The conference was in person, but Nguyen delivered her talk live on Zoom. Her presentation, "Insights from a Longitudinal CA Study of Hotel Guest-Relations Officers as Implications for Workplace Communication Training," draws on a multi-year research project supported by HPU's NEH challenge grant.
