Orientation Leaders

Orientation Leaders are role models, student leaders, and resources who play a critical role in serving new students and families during new student orientation. 

They are the front line student staff who facilitate the transition and initiate student integration into the University community. Orientation Leaders provide institutional memory and communicate HPU's culture and traditions.

About the Position

  • Serve as a role model for incoming new transfer and visiting/exchange students.

  • Facilitate small groups, mingle with students and families, and share your HPU experience during orientation.

  • Address students’ curricular and co-curricular questions and concerns.

  • Foster relationships among new students, including small group discussions, meals, information sessions, and optional activities.

  • Provide administrative support for orientation, including event set-up and clean-up, information sessions and activities.

  • Full-time student with 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher.

  • Committed to and enthusiastic about the HPU mission and student experience.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of students, family members, faculty, and staff.

  • Knowledge of the HPU support systems (e.g., departments, people, resources, opportunities, services, and policies)

  • Previous experience in co-curricular activities and leadership positions.

  • Arriving or residing in Honolulu during OL Training and New Student Orientation.

  • Available mid August for training and Fall New Student Orientation (or two days in January for Spring New Student Orientation).

  • Place: Downtown campus locations

  • Hours: Up to 34 hours during Fall New Student Orientation Week (schedule will vary Monday-Friday). Up to 12 hours during Spring New Student Orientation (3 hours on Thursday and 9 hours on Friday)
