BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Vincent Pair serves as Track Coordinator for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Program at Hawai'i Pacific University, where he draws on more than two decades of clinical, military, and academic experience to prepare the next generation of advanced practice nurses. A registered nurse for over 20 years and a dual-certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in both Family Practice and Psychiatric Mental Health for more than 15 years, Dr. Pair brings an integrative perspective to psychiatric care that recognizes the inseparable links between mental health, physical wellness, and whole-person treatment. He began his military career as an enlisted Marine before transitioning to the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, from which he retired as an officer in 2024.
Beyond nursing, Dr. Pair is a licensed and registered dietitian with graduate preparation in clinical toxicology, allowing him to address complex patient presentations through nutritional, pharmacological, and behavioral health lenses. He has further refined his clinical, legal, and leadership acumen through advanced postgraduate study, completing a fellowship in Quality Medicine at Dartmouth, a Nursing Leadership Fellowship at Duke University, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Dispute Resolution from the University of Missouri School of Law. This breadth of training informs his work in patient advocacy, ethics, and conflict navigation, and shapes his commitment to mentoring PMHNP students with the rigor, compassion, and interdisciplinary insight needed to meet Hawai'i's and the nation's growing mental health needs.
