Paul S. Loeb is a Philosophy Lecturer in the Humanities Department and the Honors Program, where he currently teaches courses on The Philosophies of Hawai’i and the Pacific Islands, Principles of Logic, Ethics in America, The Aesthetics of Photography, the Junior Honors Colloquium on The Ethics of Human Enhancement, and the Senior Honors Project Seminars.  He is also a Professor Emeritus of Philosophy from the University of Puget Sound and he was a Distinguished Professor and a Susan R. Pierce Endowed Professor of Humanities and Honors at the same school.  He received his B.A. in Philosophy and Physics from Cornell University and his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of California at Berkeley.  He is the author, editor, and translator of seven books and many peer-reviewed articles. His area of specialization is the history of Western philosophy, with concentrations in Ancient Greek Philosophy and the philosophers Kant, Nietzsche, and Wittgenstein. His philosophical interests include Metaphilosophy, Philosophy of Time, Aesthetics, Film Theory, Ethics and Moral Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy, and Posthuman/Transhumanist Theory.
