Koko Crater Botanical Garden

In 1958, Koko Crater on the eastern side of O'ahu was set aside for development into a botanical garden. Plant collections occupy 60 acres of the inner slopes and basin of this 200-acre crater. This garden focuses on the cultivation of rare and endangered dryland plants. Xeriscape concepts (requiring litte or no irrigation) are used to transform this dry landscape into a garden where plants suited to desert-like conditions can flourish. Students will enjoy a two-hour tour of the garden and will learn more about its creation and the plants in the space.
The path in the garden is uneven and has loose rocks. Students should wear appropriate durable footwear and bring a water bottle, a hat and sunscreen. Please make your reservation here. ATM Departure ONLY.
