HPU Professor of Nursing Patricia Burrell, Ph.D., APRN, and HPU Assistant Professor of Nursing Joy Bliss, Ph.D., RN, and students from the HPU School of Nursing proudly participated in the two-day Young at Heart Senior Fair & Expo. As part of their service, they helped staff the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i booth, which provided vital outreach to the community.

At the booth, HPU nursing faculty and students distributed educational materials on cancer in Hawai‘i, engaged with attendees, and answered questions about cancer prevention, treatment, and resources available to seniors and their families. Their presence offered both health education and compassionate conversation to hundreds of participants at this important senior-focused event.

Burrell and her students have maintained a longstanding collaboration with the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i, contributing to research projects and presentations over the years. This partnership reflects the School of Nursing’s ongoing commitment to advancing community health, raising cancer awareness, and supporting older adults through education and advocacy at events like the Young at Heart Senior Fair.
