Earlier this fall, Hawai‘i Pacific University’s Residential Honors Program invited the entire HPU community to two special events featuring The Story of Everything, a groundbreaking creative work by Kealoha, Hawai‘i’s 2012 inaugural Poet Laureate and MIT-trained nuclear engineer. The first event offered a free screening of the acclaimed film, which illuminates the intersection of science, the environment, the arts, and mindfulness. Through spoken word poetry, music, and dance, the piece explores humanity’s rich and diverse explanations for the origins of life while presenting hope, encouragement, and powerful solutions for healing Mother Earth in an era of climate change.

The following week, Kealoha returned for an engaging talk story session with members of the creative team, including celebrated visual artist Solomon Enos and ukulele virtuoso Taimane. Together, they shared insights into their collaborative process and the interdisciplinary themes woven throughout the work—connecting cosmology, astrophysics, theoretical planetology, evolutionary biology, population genetics, climate science and ecology, future studies, and renewable energy technologies to answer the questions: Where do we come from? and Where are we headed?
