The School of Social Work, the College of Liberal Arts is pleased to welcome Professor Hirofumi Watanabe from Musashino University in Tokyo, Japan, as a visiting scholar for his sabbatical term from April 2023 to March 2024. Dr. Watanabe's research focus is on gerontology, specifically with older adult populations who suffer from dementia. Musashino University recently hosted HPU students from the social work, public health, and international business programs during the Inter-Professional Education trip to Tokyo this past winter. During his time at HPU, Dr. Watanabe will continue his research and visit organizations and groups related to his field of study in Hawaiʻi.
