HPU’S PRODUCTION OF ‘EGGS ON ICE’ RECEIVES AWARD, RUNNER-UP ACCOLADES

The cast of HPU's production of 'Eggs on Ice'.

HPU’s award-winning theatre program received recognition for their 2021 theatrical production of Eggs on Ice. BroadwayWorld Hawaii awarded Lanaly Cabalo “Best Direction of a Play,” with the University receiving four runner-up mentions. HPU student Zoe Lehneman was runner-up for “Best Performer in a Play.” Winners and nominations were chosen by audience selection.

Eggs on Ice debuted November 4, 2021, and was the first in-person play following COVID health and safety protocols during the pandemic. The play featured a strong cast of nearly all HPU students.

Eggs on Ice won and received runner-up mention for the following awards:

  • Won: “Best Direction of a Play” – Lanaly Cabalo
  • Runner-up: “Best Costume Design of a Play or Musical”
  • Runner-up: “Best Play”
  • Runner-up: “Best New Play or Musical”
  • Runner-up: “Best Performer in a Play” – Zoe Lehneman

 

HPU offers two theatrical productions of its plays during the fall and spring semesters. The University is a member of the Hawaii State Theatre Council, and its theatre program has earned numerous awards for acting, directing, ensemble performance, playwriting, and overall production.
