Student Government Association

The Hawai'i Pacific University Student Government Association (SGA) is your student governing body. Every registered HPU student taking at least one credit is a constituent of the SGA. All students are encouraged to attend weekly meetings of the Student Senate and to voice their comments and concerns to the student senators.

SGA is comprised of the Executive Branch, Student Senate, and Student Judicial Council.

The Student Body President's Executive Council is an advisory organization only, for the benefit of the Student Body President. The HPU Student Body President and Vice President are elected each spring to represent the students of HPU.

The Student Senate is the legislative and oversight branch of the Student Government Association. The Student Senate meets each Friday from 3:00-4:00pm in MPR 1 (Aloha Tower Marketplace) during the fall and spring semesters. Students are encouraged to contact their student representative, during their office hours or by email, with any questions and concerns.

The Student Judicial Council is the judicial branch of the Student Government Association and assists with election and constitutional conflicts. 

Are you a student interested in law and judicial processes? The Student Judicial Council (SJC) is the judicial branch of SGA that resolves electoral and constitutional disputes.  The following positions are available within the SJC:

  • Chief Justice
  • Associate Justice (4 positions)
  • Clerk

We need students that meet the following criteria:

  • Maintain a HPU grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5
  • Take no less than twelve (12) HPU credits during fall and spring semesters
  • A desire to serve in their HPU community until graduation
