BACKGROUND AND INTERESTS: Dr. Pashdag is a licensed psychologist in Hawaii and California, and a registered (licensed) clinical and forensic psychologist in the United Kingdom. Her professional experience has ranged from private practice to a California state hospital, public and private healthcare organizations, and community mental health agencies, and she has conducted court-ordered forensic psychological evaluations in California, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Before joining HPU, she taught at a number of universities in the US and the UK, and she was previously program leader for the MSc Forensic Psychology programs at the University of Winchester and Middlesex University in the UK. Her research and scholarly interests are focused primarily around gender diversity, the psychological effects of psychedelics, and the intersection of depth psychology, phenomenology, and narrative. She has also conducted research on LGBTQ+ training issues in healthcare programs and on dissociation and trauma. A former motion picture and television writer, she is a member of the Writers Guild of America West (WGAWest) and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (SFWA). She occasionally writes speculative fiction under the name Joanna Horrocks.
