Caitlin Yamamoto enjoys working with first-year writing students at HPU, where she teaches WRI 1050, WRI 1100, and WRI 1200. Her research interests include Hawai’i and Pacific Island literatures, global indigenous literatures, and the multiethnic literatures of the U.S. Her dissertation, completed in 2016, focuses on literary texts from the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and Guam, and explores the relationships between these texts and the historical and political realities from which they emerged. In 2020, she was honored to receive the Golden Apple Award for distinguished teaching by an adjunct faculty member.
