Pan Pacific Debating Championship

On behalf of the Hawai‘i Pacific University Debate Society, I welcome you to escape to
Hawai‘i for sand, surf, and debate! Travel to the most beautiful island on Earth–O‘ahu–for the
12th Annual Pan Pacific Debating Championship. This tournament is open to both U.S. and
international colleges and universities. It provides excellent preparation for the United
States Universities Debating Championship.
The Pan Pacific Championship will feature six preliminary rounds breaking to
semifinals. All rounds will be debated in WUDC format. There will be a free, optional
workshop Friday afternoon for participants seeking additional instruction. This workshop
will be directed by Sterling Higa (Yale IV Quarterfinalist, USUDC Semifinalist, Pan Pacific, Pan
American, and Western Regional Championship finalist).
Registration is now open and closes Monday, February 18, 2019. Please send all
inquiries and registration information (teams and judges) to sterling.higa@gmail.com.
Please indicate whether your team members are “novice” or “ESL” competitors as well as
any dietary restrictions.
Information on fees and accommodation and a schedule are included below. If you
have any questions or would like additional information regarding tournament, travel, or
accommodation, please let me know. All of us at Hawai’i Pacific University look forward to
seeing you in February!
