Aloha Tower Marketplace: Sunset Ballroom, MPR3, MPR2

Engagement in DEI Work: Hawai'i Pacific University is hosting its first student-led diversity conference designed to raise awareness, increase knowledge, develop skills, and plan for social action around key DEI topics and trends impacting current college students in Hawai'i. Wawa Gatheru was selected to serve as the keynote speaker in hopes of speaking on the topic of engagement in DEI work and to share her personal accounts of her accomplishments at a young age despite the barriers she faced. By sharing her journey to becoming the first Black student body Vice President of her University, to being the only Black person in history to have received the Rhodes, Truman and Udall Scholarships, we hope Ms. Gatheru will inspire HPU students at the diversity conference and provide a foundation of knowledge as to why it is so critical to have a voice in DEI work and how to incorporate DEI work in one's professional journey. This conference is open to all undergraduate and graduate students.

Registration is required for attendance.
