Student Government Association

Do you want to help improve the HPU student experience?  Are you making the most out of your college experience so far? Do you have ideas that will push HPU into the future? Opportunity is knocking at your door! The Student Government Association (SGA) is your student governing body that represents the students of HPU, promoting their general welfare and making sure their voices are heard.

Every registered HPU student taking at least one credit is a constituent of SGA. All students are encouraged to attend weekly meetings of the Student Senate and to voice their comments and concerns to the student senators.

There are three branches of government in SGA. The executive branch includes the President, who serves as the chief representative and students’ advocate. The Student Senate serves as the legislative branch of SGA, representing constituents and promoting the general welfare of the student body. Last but not least, the Student Judicial Council is the judicial branch and therefore responsible for resolving electoral and constitutional disputes.

Although the Spring 2024 regular elections have already concluded, special elections to fill vacancies in the Student Senate will be held at the beginning of the Fall 2024 semester. Keep an eye out for the candidate application form in early Fall!

Student Senate meetings are scheduled weekly during the Fall and Spring semesters. Feel free to attend and see how your SGA is working for YOU!
