8:00am HLC and PSW Shuttle Stop: HPU Shuttle Pick-Up for Hawai‘i Loa Campus and Park Shore Waikiki Residents

Residents should arrive at the shuttle stop 5-10 minutes prior to the shuttle departure time for transport to Aloha Tower Marketplace (ATM).

8:00am COVID-19 Testing and New Student Orientation Check-In at Aloha Tower Marketplace

All new students must be tested upon arrival and prior to checking in. The process will take approximately 15-30 minutes, please plan accordingly.

Residents should arrive at the shuttle stop 10 minutes prior to the shuttle departure time for the LAST return shuttle to HLC and PSW.

 

Program Descriptions

PROGRAM 1

  • Aloha and Welcome HPU President John Gotanda and Senior Vice President and Provost Dr. Jennifer Walsh welcome new students to HPU.
  • HPU’s Core Values The faculty, staff, students, and overall university community of Hawai‘i Pacific embrace the values of Aloha, Kuleana, and Pono. These values are representative of the spiritual, ethical, and philosophical principles that support our community, as well as of the ideals to which we collectively aspire.
  • General Education and Academic Advising An overview of HPU’s general education program, academic advising structure, and resources available at the Center for Academic Success.

PROGRAM 2

  • We Care: Safety, Wellness, & Community Life HPU Staff will share important information regarding safety on campus, how to handle (and avoid) difficult situations, who to contact if you need assistance, and tools and resources for positive experiences while at HPU.

PROGRAM 3

  • Getting Oriented: Island and Local Life New to Hawaii? Oahu is a diverse island full of a variety of people, places and traditions. This session will serve as an overview on dealing with culture shock.
  • Get Involved at HPU There are many involvement opportunities for students. Learn more about what HPU has to offer regarding events, leadership development, and extra-curricular options!
  • Recreational Programs Learn more about our recreational programs offered both on- and off-campus!
  • Career Development Center: Jobs and Internships Do you qualify for a Federal Work Study grant or you are interested in finding an on- or off-campus job? The Career Development Center staff will show you how to search for on-campus and off-campus jobs. Valuable information and resources for internships will also be shared.

PROGRAM 4

  • Blackboard Explore HPU’s learning management system and learn how to navigate this platform for class use.
  • Business Office Staff from HPU’s business office will help you to better understand and read your eBill, make payments, and answer any financial questions you may have.
  • Meet the Dean Meet your college dean as they share information about what to expect during your time at HPU.
