Move-in Day for Waterfront Lofts and Hawaii Loa Campus: Wednesday, August 21, 2019

REQUIRED PROGRAM: Wednesday, August 21, 2019 (5:30pm - 8:00pm), Thursday, August 22, 2019 (8:00am - 4:00pm), and Friday, August 23, 2019 (8:00am - 4:00pm)

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES: Saturday, August 24, 2019 (8:00am - 1:00pm)

LOCATION: Primarily on the Downtown Campus

Get the guide to access the most up-to-date information about this event, including schedules, maps, and much more. After July 1st, please log into HPU Pipeline, click on the "New Student" tab, and reference the "New Student Orientation" channel for app download instructions. 


Registration for Passport Week: Fall 2019 New Student Orientation will be live on June 1, 2019. Simply click on the registration link on the left for instructions. Registration closes on August 7, 2019 at 5pm HST.

Students will check into orienation at the Check-In Tent beginning at 5:30pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. At this time, students will receive their name tag and packet. Check-in is located at Aloha Tower Marketplace (1 Aloha Tower Drive, Honolulu, HI 96813).

All new, undergraduate students are charged a one-time fall new student orientation fee of $150. This amount is charged to students' accounts in July. New freshmen, transfer and visiting international students are required to attend new student orientation. Students will receive a lanyard, name badge, lei, and new student t-shirt upon check in. This fee also includes some meals, transportation, and participation in various required and optional activities throughout the event.

Family members/guests are welcome to attend fall new student orientation alongside their student; however, it is not required. Family members/guests may register for the one-day or two-day orientation program. 

  • One-day registration includes a lanyard/name badge and attendance at the kick-off reception on Wednesday evening and Convocation on Thursday morning.
  • Two-day registration includes a lanyard/name bagde and attendance at the kick-off reception on Wednesday evening, Convocation on Thursday morning, and family orientation program (includes lunch).


New students and guests are welcome to drive and park at Aloha Tower Marketplace for orientation. HPU will provide discounted parking validation in Piers 5&6 parking lot on August 21st and 22nd ONLY. Please review the parking information and validation details below:

  • Drivers MUST park in Piers 5&6 parking lot (see ATM parking map). Parking will NOT be validated for those parked in valet or Irwin Park parking lots.
  • Parking validation is available during Move-In Day and the Kick Off Reception and can be picked up at either check-in tents on August 21st.
  • Parking validation is available during Family Orientation on August 22nd and can be picked up (on this day) at the Student Life Office, next to the Security Office, at ATM.
  • Parking Validation types:
    • 6 hour - first hour is free, $2 each subsequent hour, up to 6 hours
    • 12 hour - $10 flat rate up to 12 hours
