Matthew Liao-Troth serves HPU as Senior Vice President and Provost. In this role he oversees academic and student affairs to ensure student success and academic integrity in fulfillment of HPU’s mission. Dr. Liao-Troth earned his PhD in Management and his MS in Management & Policy from the University of Arizona, his MBA from San Diego State University, and his BA in American Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Dr. Liao-Troth’s scholarship focuses on the relationship between individuals and organizations; he has authored over three dozen published articles and edited the book Challenges in Volunteer Management, a volume widely used in graduate non-profit management degree programs. In 2005-2006 he served as Chair of the Public and Nonprofit Division of the Academy of Management. He has previously served on the faculties of DePaul University, Washington University in St. Louis, Western Washington University, and Georgia College, and in academic leadership roles as faculty senate president, department chair, MBA and graduate programs director, and college dean.
