Senior Vice President & General Counsel Leads Panel Discussion, Focusing on Employers’ Support of Guard and Reserve Service Members

On October 2, 2018, Senior Vice President & General Counsel Jan Boivin led a panel discussion on frequently asked questions pertaining to the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994, with particular attention on how Hawaii’s employers can support service members of the Guard and Reserve. Boivin has volunteered as an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Ombudsman since 2014, mediating potential disputes between employers and service members.

Panelists included: JN Musto, a member of the Hawaii Labor Relations Board and volunteer State Ombudsman Director for ESGR; Ann Greenlee, a retired Brigadier General now serving as the Director of the US Department of Labor, Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) for Hawaii and Guam; Bridget Komine, a retired Chief Master Sergeant now serving as Assistant Director of VETS; and Major Lloyd Phelps, a Staff Judge Advocate for the Hawaii National Guard.

The event, which was co-sponsored by the Hawaii State Bar Association’s Labor/Employment and Corporate Counsel sections and the Society of Human Resources Management – Hawaii chapter, was held at Aloha Tower Marketplace.
