College of Business (COB) Faculty Get to Know Freshman Business Students

In the spirit of welcoming freshmen in the COB to HPU, their home away from home, the college faculty hosted a pizza reception at Aloha Tower Marketplace on September 26. The event was an opportunity for the faculty from various disciplines and the students to establish connections and get to know each other.

As part of the COB’s commitment to provide real-world experiences to prepare its students as profession-ready global leaders, the college maintains strong connections with business partners in the downtown Honolulu community. In that regard, three local organizations were involved with the event.  The featured guest speaker was Meli James, co-founder of Mana Up, a local business accelerator with a vision to scale the Hawai'i brand and create industry built to last.

During the event program, there were prize giveaways including gift certificates, several boxes of yummy cookies from the Honolulu Cookie Company, and much appreciated donated gifts by local organizations, Blue Planet Foundation (helping to transition Hawaii to 100% clean energy) and Gone Surfing (one of the best places to learn surfing).

By the end of the event, many new connections and friendships were made.
