For the fifth straight year, Fujitsu Laboratories of America, Inc. has donated to HPU in support of research led by Yi Zhu, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science. Zhu is also mentoring undergraduate students, and the team is conducting research on new approaches to joint optical networks and cloud resources. The research has also focused on the application of game theory and auction algorithms to solve network design problems.

Zhu’s team includes HPU undergraduate alumni Kevin Goo (BSCS ’14), Yan Liang (BSCS ’14), Brian Spain (BSCS ’17), and current student Jin Xu. Together, they have published eight papers in the proceedings of top communication and networking conferences, such as IEEE International Conference on Communications, IEEE/OSA Optical Fiber Communication Conference and ExplorationIEEE GLOBAL Communications Conference, and IEEE International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications.

With Fujitsu’s most recent gift of $25,000 received in March 2018, gifts to HPU since 2014 — on behalf of professor Zhu’s research endeavors — total $92,000.
