The Hanai Program Experience for First Year Students

Peer Mentors and Hanai volunteers and students at April 20 reception

In 2017, the Office of First Year Experience implemented a pilot program pairing Hanai faculty and staff volunteers with first year students. Goals of the Hanai program include providing students with a faculty/staff member introduction to help bridge the barrier to reach out to administration for support, engaging students with full-time professionals with university knowledge, and offering students with a local connection over holiday breaks.

Thank you goes out to the 2017-2018 Hanai volunteers: Jan Boivin, Brooke Carroll, Dawn Chandler, Francis Chang, Tara Davis, MaryLou DePondicchello, Greg Grauman, Shellee Heen, Tameron Hodges, Adrienne Lampitelli, Laurie Leach, Matthew Liao-Troth, Sara Liao-Troth,  Serge Marek, Melissa Matsubara,  Marites McKee, Carlos Medina,  Samuel Moku, Elizabeth Mulkey, Chez Neilson, Bernard Nunies, Bill Potter, Kelly Primacio,  Nohea Reveley-Mahan,  Christen Sakamoto, Ryan Tin Loy, Yvonne Vance, Michael Van Lear, Maxine Venzor, and Nicole Wechselberger.

We are still looking for volunteers! Faculty and staff who want to serve as a Hanai volunteer for fall 2018 can do so by clicking HERE (deadline to sign up: Monday, May 7).
