Studying abroad in Italy was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I absolutely loved my professors, the courses, city of Milan, UCSC, and traveling through Italy and Europe! While there, I got to meet relatives that still live in Southern Italy and spend Easter with them. During my time abroad, I learned how to speak Italian, saw incredible pieces of art, and traveled to major cities such as Venice, Florence, Rome and Naples. I also was able to travel to Switzerland, France, Denmark and Spain! I made a video about my experience you can watch in the video above.

University Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Fall 2016

Ciao! My name is Joselyn Olinares and I studied abroad in Italy in Fall 2016. I spent four months abroad in the fashion capital of Milan. While I was abroad, I met many students like myself from all across the world and together we embarked on our first international adventure. During the four months, I was able to visit and explore roughly 12 new countries. I traveled to:

  • Zadar, Croatia
    Munich, Germany
    Nice & Paris, France
    Zurich, Switzerland
    London, Great Britain
    Dublin, Ireland
    Barcelona, Spain
    Brussels, Belgium
    Vatican City
    Monte Carlo, Monaco

Thanks to study abroad I was able to see beautiful destinations that I would have never had the chance to see or explore. Study abroad gave me the opportunity to experience something outside of Hawaii, my comfort zone. It allowed me to experience a different life half away from the world, interact with a different culture, and adapt to life abroad. I had a wonderful time abroad and would never trade it from anything in the world. When I left Europe, I left a part of my heart and I intend to someday go back to the places I fell in love with. Thank you study abroad for encouraging and supporting such an amazing life experience!
