Academic Advising

Tips for Current Students

Tip 1:

Be mindful of deadlines!  Check out our current policy sheet.  Did you know that it is your responsibility to be aware of deadlines whether someone verbally explains them to you or not?  Ignorance isn't really bliss after all!  Make yourself aware of registration dates, add/drop dates, and tuition refund deadlines and take charge of your decisions!

Tip 2:

Familiarize yourself with the new General Education Requirements if you began your studies in Fall 2008 or later.  Want to see how you can maximize your general education credits?  Check out the links!

Tip 3:

Check your Degree Plan on the Pipeline to see how your HPU and any transfer courses fulfill the General Education and other degree requirements.  You are also encouraged to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor to create a graduation plan based on your degree requirements.

Tip 4:

Attend our Secrets Of Success workshop series for advice for being a successful college student.

Tip 5:

Thinking about changing your major? Review the Majors We Offer to find a degree program that meets your objectives and direct you to a specific field of study.  Print a new degree plan from Pipeline and see how the courses you've taken fulfill these new requirements.  Lastly, consult with an academic advisor in order to make the official change to your records.
