Organization Description: Provides one-to-one relationships for children from mostly single parent households. Supports those relationships throughout the duration of the match.
Volunteer Opportunities: Mentoring a child, supervising a site (site-leader), and helping in the office.

Organization Description: Emergency shelter for youths between the ages of 12 and 17 that were referred by Child Protective Services or Family Court.
Volunteer Opportunities: Assist staff with the supervision of youths, cook meals, plan and assist with recreational activities.
Special Requirements: TB clearance and able to pass criminal history clearance.

Domestic Abuse Shelters (Child and Family Services)

Organization Description: Provides a safe haven for abused partners and their children. A time-out period for abused partners to learn about the dynamics of domestic violence, the cycle of abuse, and how to develop a “safety plan.”
Volunteer Opportunities: Answering the Hotline, advocate assistant, children’s activity coordinator, secretarial assistant, newsletter production assistant, donation coordinator, student internships and practicums, fundraising, maintenance worker.
Special Requirements: Note: This is a women’s shelter. Male volunteers are not placed in direct service positions. Dependable and empathetic self-starter who can volunteer at least four hours a week for six months.
