HPU Cheerleaders Win 10th Consecutive National Championship

Hawai‘i Pacific University’s large and small co-ed cheer teams took first place in the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) and National Dance Alliance (NDA) Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Friday, April 13.

The HPU Large Co-Ed Cheer Team won its 10th straight national title (2003-2012). The HPU Small Co-Ed Cheer Team won its sixth national title (2005-2008, 2011-2012).

The seven-time national championship dance team placed third in the Dance Open II category and fourth in the Hip Hop category (which they won in 2010).

The NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship hosts cheer and dance teams from all over the nation. More than 5,000 student athletes, and thousands of spectators, convene each year for this competition of technical skills, showmanship, game day abilities and outstanding teamwork. The competition is the largest college cheer and dance championship in the world.
