April 28, 2011

Hawai’i Pacific University graduate Jimmi Hemmenbach has been appointed Associate Director of International Admissions. Hemmenbach will provide direction for the internal and external communication process, and recruit prospective students in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

Hemmenbach—who is from Sweden—received a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a minor in Political Science from Hawai‘i Pacific University. While at HPU, he was captain of the men’s soccer team for three consecutive years. He also received a master’s degree in Spanish from Gothenburg University in Sweden.

Previously, Hemmebach worked as a Spanish instructor at HPU in 2007, then moved back to Sweden in 2008 to become a high school teacher at De la Gardiegymnasiet for several years. He also worked as a college advisor at an online American university and was an assistant marketing manager for Nike in New York. He has been to more than 40 countries.

“It is with great enthusiasm I return to the international HPU ‘ohana. My objective is to strengthen relationships with academic institutions in my region. With more than 100 different nationalities represented in our student body, the possibilities for personal and intellectual development in a diverse environment are ideal. As an HPU alumnus, I am excited to provide students from these regions with the same opportunity as I had to study in a stimulating international setting,” Hemmenbach said.
