Three New Members Appointed to Hawai'i Pacific University's Board of Trustees

Hawai‘i Pacific University’s Board of Trustees has approved the addition of three new board members, effective on December 10, 2010. They are:

Vicky Cayetano is president and chief executive officer of United Laundry Services, Inc. and managing director of United Laundry Kona, LLC. The spouse of former Gov. Ben Cayetano, she was the First Lady of Hawai‘i from 1994-2002. During this time, she spearheaded numerous programs to improve healthcare, including an effort in 2002 to provide universal long-term care for all of Hawai‘i‘s citizens. She serves as chairperson for the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai‘i and as a trustee for the Hawai‘i Library Foundation.

Layla Dedrick has more than 10 years of experience in the building industry. She is the owner of natural stone supplier Bella Pietra and the owner and CEO of Geobunga. Dedrick was recognized as the 2009 Young Business Leader of the Year as well as among the Top 10 Women-Owned Businesses in Hawai‘i for multiple years. She serves on the boards of the Building Industry Association of Hawai‘i, Small Business Hawai‘i, Marble Institute of America, American Institute of Architects, Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce of Hawai‘i, The Women’s Fund of Hawai‘i and Baha’i Faith.

Carleton Ching is the vice president of Community and Government Relations at Castle & Cooke. He has more than 30 years of experience in real estate, development, corporate administration and management. He serves on the boards of Pali Momi Medical Center and Land Use Research Foundation of Hawai‘i.
