Students win AEJMC Logo Contest!

HPU Department of Communication students

Ashley Nixon and Alana Marquez were awarded first place for their entry in the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) 2010 Convention Logo Design Competition.

The AEJMC Convention will be held in August 2010 in Denver, Colorado. Each year, students studying graphic design in the HPU Department of Communication enter the logo contest This is the fourth year they have won the honor of designing the logo for the annual AEJMC event.  This year’s winning design was conceptualized and executed in the graphic design course of Instructor Douglas Ing.  The award winning design simply and elegantly captures the spirit of the Colorado mountains against the imposing, block-like silhouette of the AEJMC acronym.

“Professor Ing has done a fine job mentoring our graphic design students and facilitating their collaboration on this project,” said Dr. Peter Britos, Chair of the HPU Department of Communication.  “Ashley Nixon and Alana Marquez are to be commended for their excellent work.”  Their first place finish in the 2010 campaign is part of a proud tradition at HPU of Communication and Media students excelling in local and national competitions.”
