Hawaii Pacific University's Professional Certificate in National and Community Change and Development (PCNCCD), provides students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills appropriate for conceptualizing and implementing national and community change projects. These abilities are important for leaders in government, community, social and human services, military, and corporations around the world. Nation and community-building is constantly in the news as the political and economic turmoil of recent years has created a need for understanding the complexity of large-scale change projects in multi-ethnic and diverse contexts. Professionals, and future professionals, who choose to enroll in the certificate program, will learn cutting-edge theories and methods for being a change leader at the national and community levels, while being grounded in a globally-relevant perspective by highly qualified faculty.
The certificate program is available as an online-based program, as well as in a traditional on-campus format. Our distance learning format is based on multiple teaching methods. Our software, WebCT, is supported by online discussions, simulations based on real change initiatives, conference calls, and other means that ensure the interactive advantages of traditional education remain part in the learning experience.
