2009 First Look Mixed Media Festival Award Winners
Award Winners for the 2009 First Look Mixed Media Festival included faculty, undergraduates and graduate students. Held in the month of May, the exhibition wrapped up a jam-packed 2008-2009 academic year. The exhibition of student and faculty art and design includes print publications, photographs, digital graphic design, haku leis, a skateboard, audio recordings and audio-visual narratives. The work in the show is as varied as the mediums. The exhibition was launched with a reception for distinguished guests, artists and students. On hand as sponsors were local restaurant Café Che Pasta and the world famous Martini Zoo. Student hosts circulated food and drink and were accompanied by a student acoustical quartet from the HPU Music Program. The student ensemble played classical and jazz tunes as guests enjoyed an engaging exhibition, good food and delicious beverages.
Six submissions were chosen for First Look Artistic Excellence Awards. One graduate student and four undergraduate projects won awards, and one faculty member won the College of Arts & Humanities Dean’s Award for Visionary Art & Design.
