Opening Conversations About Teaching and Learning
Mission The Teaching and Learning Center serves all HPU faculty with the intention to prompt and support community-building, reflection on professional practice, and innovation in teaching. We do this by providing individual consultations, workshops, seminars, and orientation sessions. We provide scholarly publications and technology resources as well as a meeting place for informal faculty discussions.
Find answers We provide direct, confidential consultation about strategies to enrich teaching and learning; we welcome and learn from questions and challenges. Please call or e-mail TLC's director, Mike Dabney (mdabney@hpu.edu), to chat, ask a question, ask for a resource, or request an office appointment.
Get personal support to assess, improve and enrich your instruction We provide simple self-assessment strategies you can use to collect information about what is working for your students and what is not, with counsel about best-practice use of that feedback. You can ask Mike to observe your class. He will provide developmental (formative) feedback on your instructional strengths and resources for enrichment
Our services are confidential, voluntary, and student centered
