OVERVIEW: Sogang University is nationally ranked highly overall in the Korean educational system. It is a catholic school with great strengths in their areas of business and economics, placing emphasis in their English speaking courses and international appeal.
STUDY ABROAD DATES & REGISTRATION: Spring Semester is from late February/early March to mid June. Fall Semester is from late August/early September to mid December.
ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE: Graduate students who have completed at least one semester at HPU with a GPA of 3.0 and who need management electives. Exchange program participants are selected competitively based on academic average, study abroad plan, maturity, ability to adapt to living/studying abroad, and relevancy of exchange program coursework to HPU degree requriements.

NUMBER OF HPU STUDENTS ABLE TO PARTICIPATE: Two
HOST SCHOOL OFFERS COURSES IN: International Relations, International Trade, International Finance, East-Asian Studies (including Korean Studies). Most course are lectured in English.
HOUSING ACCOMMODATIONS: Sogang University currently has the option of residing in their Ballarmino dormitory or an affiliated boarding house. (Note- A newly constructed International dormitory is expected to be complete by Spring 2008. More info will be provided at that time) Bellarmino dormitory holds four people to one room with a maximum capacity of 200 in the men's dorm and 132 in the women's dorm. These dorms are locked between 12 and 5 a.m. Curfew is strictly enforced. Laundry rooms are located in the basement of each dorm. All room are equipped with beds, desks, study chairs, closet, locker, lan networking, fan, shoe cabinets, microwave, sofa, TV, laundry machine, air conditioners, and bathroom. Students need to turn in the housing application to reserve a spot. There is addition housing information on the unveristy website.
As an alternative to the dormitory option, many foreign students choose to stay in a boarding house. The Office of International Affairs at Sogang University will assist in locating a suitable boarding house near the campus. The monthly rent usually ranges from 300,000 KRW to 500,000 KRW (about US$350 to US$550). Students who wish to stay in boarding houses should contact the Office of International Affairs in advance and arrive a few days prior to the beginning of the semester.

TUITION: Exchange students will pay tuition fees to their home university according to the joing academic exchange agreement. Thus tuition fees for Sogang University will be waived. Students will be responsible for housing, meal, and other costs during their stay in Korea.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Have a preliminary interview with Dr. Jon Davidann to review your HPU degree program, to evaluate your academic record, and to discuss your HPU degree plan and how it ties in with your study abroad plans.

VISA INFORMATION: If you want to stay in korea more than 90 days, you are required to register at a local immigration office having the jurisdiction over the place of your stay within 90 days from the date of your entry. To register, you should make an application to a local or district Immigration office having jurisdiction over the place of your stay, either by visiting in person. If your application is accepted, the Immigration officer in charge will stamp your passport and issue an Alien Registration card to you. It usually takes 3 or 4 days for the applicant to get the Alien Registration card.
