MA/DMS Prerequisites

Students from a variety of backgrounds are attracted to this degree program. Therefore, to ensure that each student is adequately prepared for the academic rigors of a graduate-level program, the following courses must be satisfactorily completed as a foundation for graduate studies:

Any TWO 2xxx HIST courses

Any ONE 3xxx HIST course

HIST 4661 History of Military Thought OR HIST 4961 Seminar: Military History

PSCI 2000 Introduction to Politics

PSCI 3100 International Relations

OR: 18 undergraduate credits in History or Political Science and/or combination of experience in diplomatic or military affairs.

If a student has not met all of the undergraduate prerequisites, he or she may still be accepted into the MA/DMS program. However, prior to beginning certain graduate-level courses, students may be required to complete the required prerequisite courses.
