The Military Campus Programs organization is comprised of 19 full-time faculty.

Antonina "Tonya" Bauman (Marketing) has fifteen years of teaching experience working with adult educational programs, philosophy and practices as an instructor with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Tanana Valley Community College, the University of La Verne, and Hawaii Pacific University. She has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in the traditional classroom environment and online. Her research interest is in how culture affects international marketing activities. As an online curriculum liaison for MCP, Tonya assists with the online delivery of MCP courses.

Jocelyn Cardenas

Jocelyn Cardenas has been teaching at HPU since 1998 She teaches web enhanced versions of HUM 1000, 3000, and 4500 and literature courses including film theory and criticism. She received her B.A. from the University of San Francisco (1980) and an M.A . in Humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills (1987). She also holds a Master in Library and Information Studies (1996) and an M.A. in English (2002) from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is currently working on her doctorate in English at UH Manoa. Her research interests include Dante, comparative literature, and film. In 1975, after nearly twenty years of study, she received her professional stage name in Japanese classical dance. She has a passion for wandering and is compelled to travel; she wonders about her next adventure.

Jimmy Cheng (Computer Science) received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Masters degree in Information Science from Hawaii Pacific University.  His areas of interest include computer languages, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, and mobile applications development.  In his spare time he enjoys jogging, games, traveling, and raising pets.

Deanna Dotson

DeAnna S. Dotson (JADM) received her Juris Doctor Degree from Western State University, College of Law in 1992. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University, Utah. Ms. Dotson is licensed and admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts of Central and Eastern California, and Hawaii and the states of California and Hawaii. Since 2001, Ms. Dotson has been an appointed member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, District of Hawaii, to represent criminal defendants in their appeals. Prior to relocating to Hawaii, she had a law partnership in California practicing civil law in discrimination, business and family law issues. Ms. Dotson has two published opinions with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Dotson began teaching at Hawaii Pacific University in 2001 as an adjunct and became a fulltime faculty member in 2005. She has taught business law and various classes in the Justice Administration program.

Dan Flood (Management) has been teaching courses in management and marketing at several universities and colleges since 1984. In addition to teaching, Dan has owned a management-consulting firm – the Small Business Advocate – for the past 20 years providing counseling for Hawaii’s small businesses in business plan development and marketing strategy. Prior to that, he was Manager of Terminals for Aloha Airlines for ten years and has retired from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve as an O-6. He has an M.B.A. and a Ph.D. in Management with a focus in entrepreneurship and strategic planning. Today, he is intimately involved in HPU’s development of the Military Campus distance learning initiatives and its MBA program as well as the facilitator for Military Campus Programs' Strategic Planning Team.

Guyette, Ken

Ken Guyette (Accounting) received a M.S. in Accounting and Taxation, M.B.A. and C.P.A. from University of North Dakota.  Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate in information systems management from Walden University.  Ken is owner and Chief Executive Officer of Yankee Divers, tropical fish wholesaler in Hawaii.  Served as budget director of Pacific Air Forces, Comptroller, and Cost and Budget Officer in the Air Force.  Has taught accounting to military students for 24 years.

He, Howard

Howard He (Economics and Finance) is an Assistant Professor of Economics. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Fudan University in Shanghai, China. He received a Ph.D. degree in Economics from University of Hawaii in 1999. He has more than 15 years of academic experience in teaching and research. He has served as associate professor of business at Wayland Baptist University, associate graduate faculty at Central Michigan University, adjunct faculty at University of Southern California and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, assistant professor at Fudan University, editor of Journal of World Economy, and research fellow at Ford Foundation Economic Program. His research interests include macroeconomics, applied econometrics, economic forecast, corporate finance and efficiency of financial markets.

Roger Kadala

Roger Kadala (Physics and Mathematics)  received a B.E. in Electrical Engineering-Applied Physics from New York University, a M.S. in Mathematics, & is ABD (all but dissertation) for Ph.D. in Mathematics. From Universidada Catolica Andres Bello of Carracas, Venezuela, he received a LAW degree, & Sc. D. in Applied Mathematics. He is completing his dissertation for a Ph.D. degree in Physics and received a M.S. in Physics from the University of Hawaii. He was assistant professor of Mathematics & Physics at Universidad Catolica & Universidad Metropolitana. He was associate professor of Mathematics & Engineering, Universidad Central de Venezuela. While employed with Viasas Airlines he served as airline pilot, instructor, Air Force One Pilot, & area manager.

Bing Sheng Li (Economics and Finance) is Assistant Professor of Economics. He received a B.S. in electric systems and power plants, from Hua Bei Institute of Electric Power, PRC.  He received a Ph.D. in economics and a Masters of economics from the University of Hawaii.  Currently, he is employed as a research statistician with the Division of Consumer Advocacy, Department of Commerce.  He was a Project Fellow with the East-West Center, Program on Resources: Energy and Minerals.

Eddie Lo (Mathematics) is an Affiliate Faculty of Hawaii Pacific University Military Campus Programs. He received a Ph. D. in Mathematics from Rutgers University, and a B. S. in Computer Science and Mathematics, University of Hawaii. Eddie was a teaching assistant at Rutgers University and worked as a System Analyst and a Webmaster at NSGA Kunia. He is currently employed as a mathematician in the National Security Agency, Hawaii.

George McOuat (Computer Science) has been a Computer Science faculty member with Hawaii Pacific University since 1995. He received a BGS from Chaminade University of Honolulu, majoring in both Computer Science and Management.  He has a Master's Degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.  Prior to joining HPU, he was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Access Communications, a telecommunications billing software company he helped form and an Information Management Manager at Lion Coffee.  He is also the faculty advisor to HPU's Computing Club.

Lisa Perrone

Lisa Perrone (Mathematics) is an Associate Professor and Curriculum Area Liaison of Mathematics for MCP. From 2000 to 2001, she served on the mathematics faculty of HPU (main campus) and in the underwriting division of HMSA. Since then, she has earned a doctorate in Mathematics from Emory University and has taught undergraduate course work and done research in 3D image restoration at Tufts University. Areas of professional interest include numerical linear algebra, tensors, discrete ill-posed problems with applications in image deblurring, and hyperspectral imaging.

Bob Popp (Political Science) has been a member of Hawaii Pacific University (HPU), both faculty and staff since 1990. His service to the University includes Chair, Academic Policies Committee (1999-Present), Member, Faculty Council (1999-Present), Program Chair, Military Campus Programs (2003-2005), Member, General Education (GenEd) Task Force (2004-Present), Member, Merit Pay Task Force (2004-Present).  Bob received his BS in Communication from Fordham University, a MA in International Relations from the University of Southern California and plans to enter the University of Hawaii at Manoa in the Political Science doctorate program.

Vance, Justin

Justin Vance (History) graduated cum laude from Boise State University (BSU) in 2000 with a BA in History and a minor in Political Science. At BSU he received History Department Scholarships and the Patricia K. Ourada History Scholarship. After graduating he was awarded a Trustee’s Scholarship from Hawaii Pacific University. He graduated in 2002 from HPU with distinction earning an MA in Diplomacy and Military Studies. He specializes in American History where his areas of research are the Civil War and the Second World War in the Pacific. He will be pursuing a Doctorate of Education through the University of Southern California starting in the fall of 2006. Before his appointment as a full-time faculty at HPU, he taught History as an adjunct faculty at HPU and Wayland Baptist University.  He has worked as an administrator for several military base programs, conducted battlefield tours of Hawaii’s World War II military sites for Home of the Brave Tours, and has worked at bringing history to life at the Battleship Missouri Memorial and Bishop Museum.

Waters, Gary

Gary Waters (Management) is Assistant Professor of Management.  He earned a MSA degree in general administration from Central Michigan University, a B.S. in business administration from Hawaii Pacific University, and a AAS degree in business administration from Tidewater Community College.  Has taught as adjunct faculty for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Chaminade University.  State and national member of Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and advisor to HPU Lokahi Chapter SHRM.

Jim White (Computer Science)received a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He has been an F-4 fighter pilot, a senior site representative, a senior information systems engineer, senior test specialist, senior systems analyst, principal engineer and director of operations. He is employed by employed by Ventura Technology Enterprise, Ltd. (VTEL) as consultant on Command and Control Systems throughout the Pacific Theater.

Rob Wilson (Writing) teaches WRI 1050, 1100, and 1200. He has been a language teacher for 23 years both here and abroad (Thailand and Taiwan). Most of those years have been among students whose first language is not English. In addition to teaching English courses, Rob has also taught computer literacy, business research writing, personal finance, and COM 1000. Four of his 15 years at HPU were in academic advising. In 2003, he moved from the main campus to Military Campus Programs in order to spend more day time with his infant son, Jonathan.
