Seven executives from renowned hotels in China took part in a daylong educational seminar at Hawaii Pacific University in June 2004 to learn techniques to help strengthen their marketing and sales efforts.

HPU marketing professor Dr. Joseph Patoskie led the in-class sales and marketing seminar tailored specifically for the visitors' needs. They were lectured on different target-marketing methodologies and received tips on how to track market performance for their hotels. Dr. Jerome Agrusa, professor travel industry management, spoke to the visitors on human resource management using a systems approach that examines the many interdependences affecting personnel decision making.

The seminar was made possible through a partnership between the University; the State Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism; and the China Hotel Restaurant Association.
