Graduate Academic Schedule

Hawai'i Pacific University provides a traditional semester system with 15-week fall and spring semesters.  In addition, the University provides accelerated sessions throughout the year including a winter term, and four summer sessions of various lengths.

Graduate Tuition
Full-time status for a graduate student is nine credits. Tuition for graduate students is determined on a per-credit basis.

Tuition and Expenses
The estimated funds needed for a nine-month academic year (September 2009 to May 2010) is $25,739.  Below is a breakdown of academic and living expenses:

Full-time tuition (9 credits per semester)     $11,880
Housing expense (Off-Campus) $11,094
Health Insurance $880
Books, Supplies, and Transportation $1,885
Total $25,739

*Note: 2009-2010 tuition includes the technology fee and it is not an additional expense.

Prerequisite Tuition

Full time graduate students are charged graduate rates for all classes. Part time graduate students are charged graduate rates for graduate classes, and undergraduate rates for undergraduate (prerequisite) classes during the same term.

1-7 Credits, Undergraduate courses,Summer/Winter (part-time status) = $330 per credit
1-7 Credits, Undergraduate courses, Fall/Spring (part-time status) = $300 per credit
8-12 Credits = based on graduate program

Registration Deposit

If you are not receiving financial aid or a scholarship award, a $200 non-refundable registration deposit is required. This deposit will apply as the first payment toward your tuition and fees. Graduate registration policies and tuition due dates are available here: www.hpu.edu/gradreg.

Monthly Payment Option

To help you afford education expenses, Hawaii Pacific University is pleased to. make the services of Tuition Management Systems available to you. Tuition Management System’s Interest Free Monthly payment Option allows you to spread your education expenses over smaller monthly installments, which are paid over the course of the school year. Your only cost is a $42.00 enrollment fee for the semester or $60.00 for the year.

You may enroll on their website by visiting www.afford.com/hpu or by calling them toll-free at 1-888-356-8329. Once you enroll, Tuition Management Systems will bill you for monthly payments as they come due, or you may arrange to have payments automatically deducted from your bank account.

Financial Assistance for U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents

Federal student loans are available for U.S. citizens, and permanent residents. Need-based (subsidized Stafford and non need based, unsubsidized Stafford) loans are the main source for funding. For more information, please visit www.hpu.edu/financialaid.

Scholarships, Assistantships and Student Employment

Hawai'i Pacific University offers several institutional scholarships and assistantships to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international applicants. Qualified applicants with demonstrated financial need may apply. Please visit www.hpu.edu/scholarship for deadlines and an application.

A limited number of campus jobs are available. Interested students may contact the Career Services Center upon arrival for information on job openings.
