Honolulu Community College Transfer Guide
- Students completing an Associate of Arts degree from Honolulu Community College will have fulfilled lower division general education and unrestricted elective course requirements at Hawai'i Pacific University.
- All lower division, upper division and major course requirements for a baccalaureate degree at Hawai'i Pacific University will need to be taken at HPU unless an equivalent course was completed at the community college.
- Additional program specific requirements may need to be completed prior to graduation.
- Credit awards will be based on courses completed with a grade of ‘C’ or higher.
General
- Students from community colleges are generally allowed to transfer up to 60 semester hours in academic subjects.
- Students completing coursework under an articulation agreement between their current college and Hawai'i Pacific University may, in specific cases, be awarded up to 79 transfer credits.
- Under these circumstances, the student’s last 45 credits toward a bachelor’s degree must be taken at Hawai'i Pacific University and be at the upper division (3000 - 4000) level.
- Community college courses are normally awarded as lower division credit, however courses that are transferred to replace upper level coursework at Hawai'i Pacific University may, after meeting certain criteria, be granted as upper division.
- Additional program specific requirements may need to be completed prior to graduation.
