The world has experienced phenomenal growth in the realm of tourism during the last 20 years. Tourism is the world's largest industry and the largest generator of jobs. Globally, travel and tourism is expected to yield 328 million jobs by 2010.

The need for well-trained managers in this vast and diverse field encompassing -- hotel and resort services, passenger transportation, marketing, finance and operations, and human resource development -- has never been more critical. At Hawai'i Pacific University, management is the focus of the travel industry management (TIM) program, undergraduate major and TIM concentration at the graduate level. The University's TIM major, one of the largest in the Pacific, constitutes a comprehensive undergraduate major within the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) degree program. A TIM concentration at the graduate level is available in the University's Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree program. Additionally, a time-conscious professional can learn new skills or update his or her knowledge in a short period of time by obtaining an undergraduate certificate in travel and hospitality management from the University's Professional Certificate Program (PCP).

Exceptional faculty members, made up of distinguished TIM faculty from leading universities (Cornell, Texas A&M, Troy and University of Southern California) and vast industry experiences, are committed to excellence in classroom instruction, research, service, and mentoring of students.

Few places in the world are better suited to study the hospitality industry than Hawai'i, one of the world's greatest tourist destinations. Hawai'i is a living laboratory of the travel field, offering opportunities in all facets of this dynamic, competitive industry. Hawai'i Pacific University plays an active role in Hawai'i's hospitality and travel business drawing from local industry resources, such as: guest lecturers, advisory council members, and student field experiences as part of a genuine partnership approach to travel education.
