Question: What was it like leading a team into history while capturing the 1st ever HPU all girl title as a captain?
Answer: It was an absolutely amazing feeling to be a part of All Girl's first national title. I have never been so proud to be the leader of such a talented, dedicated, enthusiastic, hardworking, and deserving group of athletes. We have undoubtedly set the pace for the future of HPU All Girl by capturing our first national title, and we truly made history. As the captain, it took a lot of hard work to bring the team together, especially because we had only spent the spring semester together and had previously been members of either Large Coed or Small Coed. In the end, it was well worth it, and I would do it all over again in an instant. All of the girls came to their new All Girl team with a common goal and with their whole hearts, which helped us achieve our victory in the end, as one Ohana. I couldn't be happier with our results this year.

Question: What was the most difficult thing about being a full time cheerleader and a graduate student at HPU?
Answer: Throughout my last semester at HPU, time management has been the biggest challenge I have encountered in grad school. It hasn’t been easy juggling both the demands of cheerleading and academics. Between all the practices, games, events and appearances, my time has been spent working on my final graduate professional paper. Although it’s been tough being involved in two time-consuming programs, I have recognized the unique advantages of being an athlete in the MACOM program. Competitive cheerleading has prepared me for the constant demands of being a grad student. You need to be able to manage your time, multi task and always be ready for a challenge. If I could give any advice to prospective graduate students pursuing a cheerleading scholarship, I would tell them to make sure they are up for the challenge. If you are able to manage your time and have a passion for the sport, the experience will prove to be priceless.
