Optional Practical Training (OPT) is an off campus employemnt benefit for F-1 students, which is available for a maximum of 12 months. It can be used during study, after graduation, or in some combination. Attendance at an OPT workshop is MANDATORY so you'll receive OPT application packet, guidance on completing the application forms and learn about the OPT card authorization process.

Students who intend to carry-out post-completion OPT may apply 90 days before completing all degree requirements and up to 60 days after completion date (last day of the semester). Please note that OPT application received after the 60 days grace period at the USCIS Service Center will NOT be processed.OPT can take as long as 3 months (90 days) to process so please plan accordingly.

International Student Services will offer the following Optional Practical Training Employment workshops:

• All I-20 forms
• Passport
• I-94 card (stapled in your passsport)
• Pen or pencil
• paper to take notes

The OPT presentation will take about an hour, followed by half an hour question-answer session.
